Beyond the Fields: A Journey of Faith and Kindness
The arrival of Ganesha... The most essential thing for Shri Ganesh Puja is Durva. Ganesh Puja cannot be done without Durva. In rural areas, Durva is called Harali. Some vendors in rural areas take this Harali from the farm embankment and take it to the city to sell. The current price of each pendi is around Rs. 30 to 40.
Bappa's stay is 10 days, basically we never compromise on the expenses for Bappa. Everyone wants the durva to be green and fresh... Now, if you go to the market, it is difficult to find fresh green durva to make such durva... And if you think about the cost, how can Bappa offer you a ripe durva of red color for three hundred to four hundred rupees...
So we decided.... We would go to the field and bring the durva we wanted... After finishing our afternoon work, we went to find fresh green durva...
Since it was raining heavily, we could see water stagnating in that field. durva does not mean grass. When we went to find durva, we understood that there are different types of durva. We traveled exactly 7-8 kilometers.... We decided in our mind that it is not our job to go, we will buy it from the market...
Just as we were about to turn the car around, we saw an old man in a white, dirty kurta... Gandhi cap... simple slippers... walking behind us, walking with the support of a fork. As they approached, they stopped near us... They looked at them with admiration, told them... "I have come to see the harali...", Grandfather said, "The harali is not here, I want to meet you. Come on, I will take you..."
In fact, we both did not know him at all and with the affection with which he still said to us, "Come on, I will take you", we both started going with him...
After going a little further, I said to Baba, "How far is it?" To this, he said, "Ahead of this, beyond the three pillars, the work of the house is going on, we have got as much harali as we need in the path behind it."
Now we could not see those pillars at all... My wife requested him, "Baba, you will take this ahead in the car, I will come walking behind..." That was fine... because I did not know where to go. I also agreed...
Baba initially refused a lot, but I came walking in the car. When we requested, they were ready and started the journey about 700 to 800 meters away, that is, a kilometer from where we had met them... Oh my God, that's how far we could walk... But walking was a small thing for Baba.
I sighed and quickly went to the field, dropped Baba off and brought my wife. Baba showed us the field with affection... He also told us exactly where the good rice was... He cleaned it... We were happy to get the green and lush rice as we wanted.
Baba kept talking to us until the work of taking the rice was completed. While leaving, we both thanked him, to which Baba said, "Don't ask for thanks... I haven't done anything... Social work is my work, this is what I have been doing till now..." Saying this, Baba continued on his way.
This is what true humanity is called... Without any recognition... People who selflessly guide in the best way learn a lot...
Ganpati Bappa Morya....
